In a tragic incident on Thursday night, a temporary home guard, identified as Debabrata Chalki (35), lost his life in a road accident near Bali Deshbandhu Club on GT Road. Chalki, stationed as a traffic home guard near Liluah MCKV School, was returning to the barracks of Bali Traffic Guard after completing his duty.
At around 11 pm, near Bali Deshbandhu Club, an empty truck struck Chalki from behind and fled the scene. The impact left the home guard critically injured, leading to his collapse on the road. Despite immediate efforts by Bali traffic officers, staff, and Bali Police Station personnel, Chalki was rushed to Uttarpara State General Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries before receiving treatment.
